What is next for FireballKaraoke

Every host planning a season wants the same two answers: is the thing I need coming, and can I believe the date. Roadmaps on websites are usually neither, so this one is deliberately plain: what is being built, in roughly the order it is being built, and it will be wrong in the usual ways. Some of it lands sooner, some later, and one thing on this list will turn out to be a bad idea.

Windows

The most asked question by a distance, and the honest answer is that it is next after the macOS build has been through a proper run of real shows.

The reason for that order is boring but it matters: FireballKaraoke runs inside VirtualDJ, and the parts that talk to VirtualDJ are the parts most likely to behave differently across platforms. Shipping a Windows build that is subtly wrong in front of a live room is worse than shipping it a month later.

The host directory

Just landed: a directory of hosts that singers can browse by city, showing who is live right now and when the next show is.

It is deliberately small at the moment because it only lists hosts who opted in and have a web address claimed. It gets more useful as more hosts turn it on, which is the awkward phase every directory goes through. If you host, opt in on your profile page and fill in the cities on your venues.

What hosts keep asking for

These come up over and over and are all on the list:

Better handling of groups. Six people arrive together and want to sing near each other without wrecking the rotation for everyone who came early. Fair insertion handles the maths; it does not yet understand groups.

Song history in the singer's hands. Partly there: a free account already keeps history, keys, and favourites. What is missing is a good "what did I sing last time at this venue" view on the phone.

More audience screen control. The audience display already carries your branding, your promos, and a saved look per venue. The requests are for finer layout control and for scheduling promo images to specific times, which is a venue asking rather than a host asking, and those are often the most valuable requests.

Reports that a venue will actually read. Show reports exist and can go to the venue. The next step is making them good enough that a bar manager reads one and books you again.

What we are not doing

Streaming or selling karaoke tracks. Your library is yours. We are not going to become a middleman for the thing you already own.

Taking a cut of tips. Tip buttons link out to your accounts. The money never touches us and it is not going to.

Ads on the request page. The page a singer sees at your show carries your show, not our advertising.
