A karaoke rig is a laptop in a bar. Cloud backups exist because that sentence is enough of an argument.
What a snapshot holds
Your settings, your singer profiles and their histories, your show files, your audience themes and their artwork. It is the whole state of your FireballKaraoke setup, which is the part that would actually hurt to lose. Your music is not in it: that is your library, and it is far too large to be anyone's backup.
It is encrypted before it leaves
The snapshot is encrypted on your machine with your own key and uploaded already scrambled. We hold a blob we cannot read, and only your rig can fetch it back. This is the one thing we store that contains file paths and singer details, which is exactly why it is treated this way.
The dashboard shows you the label, the size, the date, and nothing else. There is no way to browse the contents from a website, by design, including for us.
Making one
The plugin takes a snapshot on demand, and reminds you at startup if it has been a while. Give them names you will recognise at midnight: "before the big cleanup" beats a date.
We keep the most recent thirty per rig and drop the oldest beyond that, and there is a size cap of a hundred megabytes, which a normal setup is nowhere near.
Restoring
Restore from the plugin. It takes a local backup of the current state first, before anything is replaced, so a restore you did not mean is undoable.
Restoring one rig's snapshot onto a different machine is allowed and sometimes exactly right, but the file paths inside came from the old machine. Expect to point a few things at where they live now.
Managing them
Rename a snapshot to something more useful, or delete one you do not want kept.
